Trust in the news is at an all time low and most local coverage is fueled by controversy and crime.
The name "Leveler" was inspired by the notion that Yonkers is "a city of hills where nothing’s on the level." So the saying goes and the history shows, but what does tomorrow bring? Well, that depends on today. That depends on us.
In our polarized world, we might not agree on much, but maybe we can agree that we all share a drive to stand on solid ground? Elevation doesn’t have to dictate quality of life if we promise to help elevate each other. And that’s what The Leveler News is all about.
Our city lacks progressive, non-partisan, in-depth local journalism. The Leveler News will fill this gap with weekly government reporting, community features, and investigative stories to rebuild trust and civic engagement.
We need your help to launch this summer!!
Your tax-deductible donation funds hyperlocal reporting ($50 = one story), civic workshops ($250 = one event), and accessible news ($500 = one month of Spanish translations).
This isn’t charity—it’s democratic infrastructure. Donate today!
Help The Leveler rebuild trust in news!
